The Best Minimalist Books!

Minimalism. What the heck is that?!

For me, it all started by chance when I picked up a book that I didn’t know was about the minimalist mindset. Since that fateful day, I have embraced the movement and I’ve read a handful of other books that have inspired me to stay focused on editing and clarifying my life, my home, my purpose!

Here is a list of the amazing minimalist books and authors that have inspired me!

I encourage you to put down the phone or computer and sink your face into an old fashioned book.

Your mind, your soul, and your home will… THANK YOU!

1. Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

I bought this book randomly in graduate school.  I was in a state of life reorganizing and transitions - and honestly - I saw the cover and picked it up! What a game changer! I was hooked on minimalism before it took over our Instagram and social media news feeds.

This is a quick read (or listen on Kindle/Audible, which is what I do!). It talks about the real world application of minimalism.

Its not about removing all the stuff from your house - but how to practice the principles in your work, life, family and relationships!  Every so often I re-read this book to stay grounded!

I found this book strangely helpful in prioritizing my work and job responsibilities, allowing me to clarify what tasks serve me!

Do yourself a favor, buy this book, so you can read, and re-read it!

4. The Minimalist Way

I have this book in all forms including Kindle, and Paperback! It is jam packed with thoughts that make you pause and think about how you can incorporate minimalism into your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. There are exercises to help you identify your priorities.

I adore the author, Erica Layne, who has an amazing website and Instagram account. I encourage you to follow along for inspiration!

5. Minimalism for Families

What if you have a bunch of kids running around, like I do! What if your house is full of plastic toddler toys, small muddy shoes, and hand me down clothes? You may be surprised, but minimalism is for you, AND your family! What?!

I know right. How are the kids going to be entertained? How in the heck are you going to through out all of the cherished childhood memories? Minimalism can look different for families, but there’s a book for that! (Also available as an Audiobook on Audible for busy moms or dads!)

Zoë Kim is another amazing author and voice of minimalism on her blog and social media. I again encourage you to follow her on Instagram and her journey to Raising Simple. She just moved into a newer, smaller home with a Tiny Home on her property! BALLER.
