My Best Friend's Wedding

I know its the name of a movie, an old classic really, but my best friend in all the land got married! Ahhhh, so great.  Luckily for her hubby Shane, I knew the man, so he did not have to go through the ample series of "husband to be tests" and quality control routines that we women like to put new boyfriends through.  Even though I wasn't planning on putting him through any difficult tests, I mistakenly did one night.  As a token of my appreciation for passing the test, and an apology for my poor performance, I showed up at his doorstep with Don's Quality Market fried chicken.  There's really no need to get into the details of that story, other than - Shane you passed with flying colors.

My best friends, ladies and gentlemen, isn't she gorgeous?!

I feel that after a short time, it was pretty obvious to them and most of their friends that this relationship was the real deal.  I had a good idea of the qualities that Lyssa was looking for in a man, and well, Shane definitely fit that checklist to perfection. I'm not just saying that because, you know this is a public blog, but seriously. A few of the requirements were: funny, sports, Green Bay packers - ahhh check, check, annnnd check.

Wedding party church photos!

Silly tim.

Anyway, so they were going to get married and they did! I flew back to Seymour to partake in the festivities. I nervously wrote my speech, revised it a bit, ran it past my parents and my husband. My husband and recently given an epic speech at his brother's wedding, so after considering his advice to add in a bunch of odd inside jokes, I kindly returned back to my initial scribbles of text, haha! Oh Paul.  Lyssa was such a chill bride and the day went by too quickly!  She made a gorgeous bride - and I did all I could not to cry. I probably would have shed tears, but I knew that the groomsmen had an active bet on me breaking down during the ceremony.

The fiesta between the ceremony and reception was awesome, and pictures went off without a hitch! We had a great time, and even got to drag Curty and Dennis on the party bus!  We sat down for dinner and luckily I didn't bomb my speech, so that was ideal. The wine helped my nerves - thank you vino!! I revealed our life long secret of when we let the homecoming school spirit get into our sober heads, which I'm pretty sure Lyssa was not expecting. It was Paul's idea.

Our high school crowd reunites!

Haha, the speech, I love this photo!

It is such a nice feeling to see your friend seriously in love and to know that she'll be taken care of for a lifetime. I also really enjoy the fact that I have another person to add to my family, which inherently means another couch to crash on!!  Shane, I'm actively trying to teach my son how to milk cows... I promise.

Well, just wanted to say thank you to Lyssa for being such an epic friend and part of my life. Lyssa has been with me through pretty much everything, from my first armpit hair to my first baby (yes, I face-timed Lyssa minutes after giving birth)... and I couldn't imagine life without her! I'm so happy that she's happily married to an awesome soul, and so grateful to be a part of their day!

Lyssa and Shane, the newlyweds!
