Whirlwind Disney Adventure!
Because I found a deal online, we decided to sneak an entire trip to Florida into 48 hours. Initially I was hoping that Paul, Taylor and Katie would all be crazy enough to join me, but turns out in the end the only people crazy enough to make a Disney weekend happen was me and Lovis... and, well the boys had no choice in the matter. Ever since our adventure when Paul was in Florida for a conference, I wanted to get Drew back to the magical land before I had to pay for his admission (<3 yrs). This was the time to do it!
I found out that my Derm rotation ended after a final exam Friday morning, and decided to book a trip to Orlando to make Disney happen. In looking at all the options and consulting with my cousin Andrea, we decided to stay in a Disney resort. It was an awesome decision. They provided wrist bands for us all and complementary shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. Once we got to the hotel, the luggage was delivered and we got all set up for the weekend. Drew man was in his crib behind the curtain by the bathroom, which functioned as a make shift two bedroom suite!
On Saturday, we woke up early and headed out to they Disney property. We had a breakfast on the goal and loaded up with snacks for the day. We managed to drag down the Double BOB jogging stroller which was a feat of strength. But, you can literally live out of the double BOB if you do it right. We had a snack bag, drinks, clothes, blankets, diapers and the list goes on.
We were close to the first ones at the park and we had our pick of rides. We went on Little Mermaid to warm up to the adventurous atmosphere of it all, and hopped quickly over to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train since the line was only 30 minutes - the shortest it was bound to be all day. Little Drew man made the height cutoff by the tip of his shaggy hair, and they let him go on. Lovis was brave and took him on with her. A wild strategy for the beginning of the day! He was a champion, but the pictures of his terrified face as they are whipping around the corners of the track are priceless. We baby swapped and he went on the ride with me too. He was a champion. We decided that was probably enough roller coasters for the day. There's an epic video of us as we rounded the corner and took a drop, but I won't post it here for his sake :)
We managed to do many of the other rides. Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, Aladdin, Goofy coster, the go cart race track, and lots of Dumbo! We had an absolute blast! It was a jam packed day, but we kept the pace manageable and made sure to stop for meals and pineapple ice cream.
We had an absolute blast while visiting Disney. We crashed in the hotel after a long day of rides and walking. It was crazy how quickly we all fell asleep. The next morning we ate some Mickey waffles, waited out the rain and went swimming in the pool. We flew out later that afternoon. It was a quick turn around, but literally a perfect trip! We got home late Sunday night and snuggled into bed in Pittsburgh. The boys were absolute troopers and I like to think they enjoyed themselves :)
I guess next time, maybe my kids will be old enough to remember it! hah!! - Probably not.
