My name is Alyce. I am a practicing physician, PhD scientist, and mother of four beautiful children, and wife to a guy that gets my crazy. I grew up in a small town eager to achieve big dreams. I am on a mission to empower women to dream big as yet another way we can achieve equity in the medical and scientific communities. It’s about knowledge, tools, sponsorship and empowering women to showcase just how amazing they are. Not despite all of the roles they are juggling, but because of them! We were made for this.

My journey was full of set backs. Medical school admission was not easy. Graduate school was not a linear path. My family was rocked with tragedy that almost made me quit medicine all together. But, I didn’t quit. I want to encourage you during trying times to dig deep and pursue your dreams!

I’m thrilled to continue my medical training in a competitive specialty, stay immersed and engaged in important research that will positivity impact human health, and of course, surround my family with love and adventure.
I’ve been on this journey to becoming a physician and researcher for over 17 years, and I’ve been blogging about the process and my own personal journey for over a decade. I’m an open book. I’ve figured out what works through my own failures.
I am not like many of the other online personalities who paint a glamorous picture of life. I refuse to have a page full of glamour, white coats, and stethoscopes. I wasn’t introduced to medicine from a lineage of physicians. I knew absolutely nothing about medicine. I am a self made, real-life, physician-scientist. Who is not afraid to stay true to her roots of a small town Wisconsin girl, with big dreams and family values.
