Annual Houghton Nagel Weekend!
One year later, we were able to repeat the fun of our annual Houghton trip! This year I was able to drag Paul with me which makes flying with my small man much easier. This is the last time we can drag him up to Houghton without paying for a second ticket, so I am all for it! I was able to fly in a day or so early to spend some time with my parents and help to prepare the cabin for the weekend visitors. Mom and I had the chance to spend a day in Houghton doing some shopping and checking out the new local coffee shops and stores in the downtown area. We found a few gems at the outfitters and bought Drew a pair of nice warm boots, which I am super excited about!
The Nagel family was driving up from Wisconsin and we anxiously awaited their arrival to get the weekend started! It was nice to have their company and Drew was able to rekindle his friendship with his cousin! It's so neat that they are so close in age, and I hope they will continue to be wild buddies for many years!
We had a great weekend talking, reading, lounging on the boat and letting the men watch the Badger game. We went around on the buggies and took a quick trip to the Mosquito Inn just to check in and hang with the local crew. I don't get to visit there very often in the summer, but it's always a treat. Paul and I even had the opportunity to sneak away and do some shopping while our little was napping. It's always nice to go for a quick date. We went to the Keweenaw Brewing Company and walked downtown, taking a while to snoop out the awesome local hardware store. The hardware store is an absolute gem - it had all of the natural soaps and things I'm in to, and a bunch of toys that we knew Drew would love! Its always fun to have a day date with my main man when we have family willing to watch our little.
The rest of the weekend was filled with sand, sun and fun. We went for walks and enjoyed the weather. Paul and I were able to fly home together and make a pit stop into the United Club to clean house on their free food and drinks. It was a treat. We are so blessed to be able to sneak away for a weekend with family here and there. I cherish these moments, and I'm looking forward to next year already!!
