Drew the Traveler, back to Wisconsin!

Drew was six weeks old and we already wanted to get on the plane to head home and visit with family. It was going to be a very busy weekend, and I was flying alone, so I was hoping Drew would sleep during the flight!

As luck would have it, we didn't start off our travels as anticipated. Paul was bringing me to the airport at 5, and we ran into a slow detour. We didn't have much time to spare either, I was just so proud that it only took an hour and a half to feed him, shower and pack the remaining items for our trip! We arrived at the airport and hustled like crazy in order to pack the stroller, car base and car seat into a massive luggage tote. It was not easy, Paul was struggling to get the base out, while I was trying to load our six week old into the Boba carrier and put our stroller away, haul my checked luggage and carry on simultaneously. It was a cluster to say the least. The bags were so heavy and awkward that I could barely walk. I made it up to the counter to check into my flight and it wouldn't read my card. I finally flagged down someone, who was not having a good morning g by the way, to attempt to check me in. They wouldn't. My flight left at 5:45AM and it was 5:01AM. Since I passed the 45 minute window, they wouldn't let me check baggage. It took everything in my power not to cry in the face. I bit my lip and said, "seriously?!?".  They gave me some attitude and ignored the very small child strapped to my chest and got me on the next flight. Then they proceeded to ask me to haul 50 lbs worth of stroller to oversized luggage. The icing on the cake, hahah. Oh well, a few hours later I was in Green Bay!

The first evening I arrived we had a few people over at the Condo to meet Drew! This was going to be Lyssa's first time meeting him too, which I was very excited about!! Aunt Lyss!! Drew also had the chance to meet his buddy and future partner in crime, Oliver! I was fortunate enough to have Drew close in age to my cousin's baby boy, so it's assumed they will already be great friends.

The following day we made our way to Madison to meet David and Kathy for dinner! They were up in the Madison area for a check up, and fortunately I was back in Wisconsin with Drew!! I was so excited for them to meet my little man. The last time they saw me, I was very pregnant and wishing I could have been on a horse in Missouri. Apparently that is frowned upon while pregnant.  I had to forgo the horse ride and settle for amazing dinners and breakfasts instead, hah!

We met up quickly at the hotel and decided to grab dinner at an Irish pub. The last time I was there was with Mike Foley, his parents and Paul for a summer evening. It was so nice to be back in the area. The food was excellent, and spending time with the Erwin's was even better. They are so sweet and make us feel so at home when we are around them. I am very much looking forward to our next dinner date! We shared photos of their newest Grandson, Big Jake, who was born only three days after Drew! I like to think they are birthday buddies. They always tell us how much I remind them of their Ashlee, so it was pretty crazy how close together our sons were born!  Drew was even given is own set of Erwin Spurs, which he now must earn with hard work and respect. They sit perfectly on his crib next to a picture of wisdom and lessons from a horse. I cannot wait to share the tradition with Drew.

After dinner with the Erwin's, we stopped for a few moments at Erik and Cara's so they could meet the little buckwheat, and retired to our hotel.  It was already a whirlwind of activity, and on Saturday we slept in, accidentally.
