Halloween 2018

The thing about blogging about holidays is that it's a clear way to see how behind I am on blogging. haha! Well here goes, I had to post a few pictures about our Halloween activities. The weather didn't cooperate too much this year, but we did take time to get down to the waterfront for trick or treating at all of the different stores. It's a welcoming community event and we enjoyed our time last year! Last year our youngest was just a baby and it was one of his first outings. Now he's a giant and fitting into the legendary octopus costume that Pauls dad bought from a friend at work.

This year we had another addition to our holiday celebration - our close friends' baby was able to join us dressed up like a monkey. He was absolutely loving the warm snuggles in the monkey costume and was a champion throughout our whole evening.  We finished our Waterfront trick or treating with takeout from Primanti's and a quick car ride home. Before you knew it, the boys were in bed and Lovis (our au pair) and I were filling our face with sandwiches loaded with fries.

The rest of Halloween was spent hoping we had kids coming to our house to get rid of our absurd amount of candy we bought.  Candy was on sale at our hardware store and Paul loves an epic deal. We bought candy and were also soft enough to buy half priced blow up figurines for our front yard, including a ghoul and dragon. YES, we were THAT house with the blow up creatures.

Our neighborhood trick or treating was mildly spoiled by the rain, but we made the best of it. We also witnessed the sweetest of gestures as the Squirrel Hill police would "pull over" families and ask the kids to pick out a piece of candy from their buckets with their flashing lights on. They especially liked to pull over little kids dressed as policemen - it was so cute!

I wanted to make a big dinner with a fall dessert of pumpkin pie... it was overcooked, but I thought blog worthy. The taste was there, the crust was not - hah!!  Looking back, it was such a nice fall, and it went by quickly! Off to the winter weather!
